Oakland's Mojo Apostles have been recently featured on cd comps 'Bang in the bay' from Zero Magazine and volume 4 of IM: Independent Musician Magazine which is nationally distributed. The band consists of Paul Podany-lead vocals/rhythm guitar, Mike Serafin-drums/percussion/vocals, Dean Carlson-bass, Dave Chilson-guitar/vocals and John Deal-drums. The Mojo Apostles were formed when Paul and Mike left their respective bands in search of something a bit truer to themselves as musicians. After a few years and lineup changes the band has reached a true core of what a band should be, fun, talented and a bit cynical to boot. The music itself has found a home somewhere in between Social Distortion and Cake with a huge dose of The Ramones and Jerry Reed. In recent years the band has sold over 2000 cd's and worked hard on playing the local bay area scene, developing a loyal following by playing bay area digs such as The Stork Club, Kimo's, Bottom of the Hill, Lost and Found Saloon, and east bay spots The Time Out and Roosters Roadhouse. With recent demo release 'American Halfass' more people have opened their ears and welcomed us in'the new material has been very well received.
