Biography

For those who are fans of '80s television, JamisonParker has nothing to do with the actor of that era. The sprightly pop-rock duo of Jamison Covington (vocals, guitars) and Parker Case (guitars, bass, drums, vocals) fill their EP "notes&photographs" with sparkling gems. Covington, a fan of Case's onetime band Astoria, and Case met through a mutual friend a few days before Covington was moving from California back to his homestate of Kentucky. The two kept in touch and traded demo tapes via snail mail. Eight months later, Covington left behind his country boy roots (he comes from a town of 1,200 people) and returned to California to officially form JamisonParker in early 2003. "I thought I would be happier back in a small town, but it didn't really turn out that way."The band played around town, mostly for friends. At one "small show" was their future manager invited the band to attend the annual Surf and Skate festival in Asbury Park, N.J. Because they weren't part of the bill, JamisonParker decided to set up their own stage. They performed at merchandise booths and at the hotel across the street late at night, and soon created a following. The show's promoter happened to be in the audience and asked JamisonParker to play on the Skatefest stage the following day. Seven-hundred people witnessed one of the band's first shows. Riding that wave of success, JamisonParker began writing songs and eventually connected with Interscope Records, who prepped the band's "notes&photographs" for a fall 2003 release. The multitalented duo wrote, performed and co-produced "notes&photographs" with Dave Trumfio, who also worked with Wilco, The Anniversary, Pulsars at his Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles. The EP reflects the duo's pop sensibilities bringing forth influences such as the Replacements' Paul Westerberg, the Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik and Cursive.
